About the event
In the geometry of a sword fight, the lead hand is the first thing to enter the fight and the last thing to leave. Because it is the closest available target, it is also the most difficult to defend. This workshop is a deep dive into the the ability to strike the hands and, more importantly, use that threat to dominate the exchange.
We will move beyond simple "sniping" to explore the hand as a tactical trigger. By targeting the opponent’s grip, you can force predictable defensive responses and "short-circuit" their planned attacks, creating clear openings to deeper targets like the head and torso. Whether you are looking to improve your tournament scoring or your martial integrity, mastering this vulnerable target is essential.
What We Will Cover:
The Mechanics of the Strike: Learning the specific angles and timings required to hit the hands safely and effectively across different weapon systems.
The Provocation: How to "show" a hand-strike to provoke a panic parry, allowing you to control the tempo and the line of the fight.
Follow-on Actions: Transitioning seamlessly from a hand-threat into a decisive finishing blow.
